Sinn Féin councillor Conor D. McGuinness has said that Waterford Council’s newly adopted policy on single-use plastics is a step in the right direction.
This policy commits Waterford Council to sourcing alternatives to single-use plastics across its departments and services. The Council will now require its suppliers and partners to end their use of single-use plastics as well.
“Its important for our local authority to show local leadership in protecting our environment. I would like to see further action to reduce plastic pollution in Waterford involving communities, businesses, and schools. I believe the Council can play an important role in spearheading initiatives locally to cut down on the amount of disposable plastics used across Waterford.”
