Peace Commissioner service for July Provision and other forms

Sinn Féin Councillor Conor D. McGuinness has reminded the public that peace commissioners provide a free service to the community, and that he is available to assist with paperwork for July Provision (Summer Programme) and other forms.

McGuinness said:

“I was appointed as Peace Commissioner for Co. Waterford a number of years ago, which means that I can witness signatures and take statutory declarations. This is important for people applying for passports for their kids for example, or those taking up jobs in the health service or as teachers.

“At this time of year I am ofter asked to assist with paperwork relating to July Provision, recently renamed the Summer Programme. This scheme provides educational support to children and young people with special needs during summer holidays.

“Peace Commissioners may not charge for their services. It is an honorary position and services are provided to the community free of charge.

“Its important to point out that Peace Commissioners and Commissioners for Oaths are not the same, and while there is some overlap between what each can do, it is important to check your form in question to see which is required.
