Sinn Féin Councillor Conor D. McGuinness has has said that he is hopeful for progress on the proposed social and affordable homes in Ardmore. He has consistently raised the need for housing solutions in the area focussed on local people, and has been working with the community, Council officials and others to advance the project.
McGuinness said:
“There is huge need for social and affordable homes across West Waterford, and in areas such as Ardmore, An Rinn and Dungarvan in particular.
“Unfortunately the Department of Housing declined to support the previous application and this has seriously delayed the development of social and affordable houses in Ardmore. A new application was submitted in recent months and I am hopeful the Council will be able to go to tender for a builder very soon.
“I have written to the Housing Minister to ask that there are no further delays in the process given the severity of the housing situation in Ardmore and the impact on the community.
