Autism Class at Ballycurrane NS could be ‘game changer’ for West Waterford families – McGuinness

Sinn Féin general election candidate and councillor Conor D. McGuinness has written to the Minister for Education Norma Foley seeking to expedite the delivery of a a new Autism Class at Ballycurrane National School.

McGuinness said:

“The delivery of a dedicated Autism Class at Ballycurrane National School would be a game changer for many families in West Waterford. There is a clear need for a dedicated unit in this area, with some parents having to

travel as far as Midleton or Waterford to get a space for their child.

“David Cullinane and I have heard from parents in the area and will continue to support the bid to have an Autism Class in the school. I have written to the Minister to outline the level of demand in the area and the urgency required from her Department in approving the unit.

“I will continue to campaign for a fair allocation of services for West Waterford when it comes to the provision of education and supports.”
