Waterford communities urged to have their say in Sinn Féin’s Community Safety Survey

Sinn Féin TD for Waterford, Conor D. McGuinness, has encouraged people across Waterford – in both urban and rural communities – to take part in Sinn Féin’s Community Safety Survey.

The survey aims to gather local experiences of crime, policing, and community safety, helping to shape Sinn Féin’s policy response and ensure that solutions are grounded in the reality on the ground.

Conor D. McGuinness said:

“Across Waterford – in the city, in rural villages, in coastal and inland communities – people are telling me the same thing: they don’t feel safe, they don’t feel seen, and they don’t feel supported.

“We’ve seen Garda numbers fall, stations close or cut back hours, and vital community supports left underfunded or withdrawn altogether. Government after government has centralised services and hollowed out frontline resources, leaving communities to fend for themselves.

“This survey is a chance for the people of Waterford to have their say. Whether you’ve experienced antisocial behaviour, break-ins, drug-related activity or just feel there’s no Garda presence in your area, we want to hear from you.

“Sinn Féin is committed to a real and workable approach to community safety – one that invests in prevention, supports young people and families, and rebuilds community resilience in both urban and rural settings.

“Over the coming weeks, Sinn Féin activists will be sharing the survey online and in person across Waterford. I’m asking every individual, every household, every community group to take part and share your experience.

“By working together, we can build safer and stronger communities – from the heart of the city to the most rural townland.”The survey can be completed online at
