Members of the Tallow Men’s Shed were welcomed to Leinster House this week by Waterford TD Conor D. McGuinness.
The group met with a number of TDs and Senators and were given a full tour of the historic building, including a visit to the Dáil chamber where they observed parliamentary proceedings from the public gallery.
During their visit, Deputy McGuinness raised questions with Minister of State for Agriculture Martin Heydon and Minister of State for the Marine Timmy Dooley on a range of local and national matters including the recent Teagasc survey on farm incomes, agricultural input costs, delayed ACRES payments, income supports for fishermen, and access for Irish vessels to the disputed Rockall grounds.
Speaking after the visit, McGuinness said:
“The men’s shed movement makes an incredible contribution to community life across the country. The Tallow group is a shining example of that — a place of support, creativity, solidarity and great fun. I’m proud to be associated with them and to champion the important work they do.”
