Waterford Sinn Féin TD Conor D. McGuinness has encouraged people attending this Sunday’s Dungarvan Agricultural Show to call to the Sinn Féin stand, where he and members of the local Sinn Féin team will be available throughout the day to meet with the public and discuss the issues affecting communities across West Waterford.
The show takes place this Sunday, 12 July, in Ballygagin and is one of the highlights of the local farming and rural calendar.
Deputy McGuinness said Sinn Féin is proud to once again support the show.
“The Dungarvan Agricultural Show is one of the most important community events in the county, bringing together farming families, rural businesses, community organisations and people from every part of Waterford. We’re delighted to be part of it again this year.
“Sinn Féin was the first political party to establish a stand at the show, and it’s great to see others following suit. The more opportunities there are for public representatives to engage directly with people, the better. Events like this provide an opportunity to have real conversations about the issues that matter most to rural Ireland.
“As Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on Rural Affairs, Community Development and the Gaeltacht, I particularly look forward to discussing the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities. Among the issues I’ll be raising are the rising cost of living in rural Ireland, the growing fuel affordability crisis affecting families, farmers, hauliers and contractors, CAP reform, planning and housing in rural areas, and the need for stronger investment in rural development, economic diversification and programmes such as LEADER.
“I would encourage everyone attending the show to call over to our stand for a chat. We’ll have a number of activities taking place throughout the day, and my team and I look forward to meeting as many people as possible.”
Deputy McGuinness said the Dungarvan Agricultural Show continues to demonstrate the strength of rural Waterford and the importance of agriculture, enterprise and community life, and wished the organisers every success with this year’s event.
