Chuir Conor D. McGuinness, iarrthóir toghcháin áitiúil de chuid Shinn Féin, fáilte roimh nuacht go mbeidh cruinniú ag Bord Fhoras na Gaeilge i nGaeltacht na nDéise  i mí Aibreáin. Is é Foras na Gaeilge an comhlacht atá freagrach as an nGaeilge a chur chun cinn ar fud oileán uile na hÉireann.

Dúirt McGuinness:

“Tá áthas orm a fhógairt go reáchtálfaidh Foras na Gaeilge cruinniú boird in Iarthar Phort Láirge i mí Aibreáin seo. Mar chomhlacht uile-Éireann a bhunaíodh faoi Chomhaontú Aoine an Chéasta, is iondúil go mbuaileann Foras na Gaeilge le chéile i mBaile Átha Cliath nó i mBéal Feirste, agus don chéad uair riamh, reáchtálfaidh Foras na Gaeilge cruinniú iomlán den bhord sa Rinn ar an 26 Aibreán.

“Is cuid bhunúsach agus thábhachtach dár gcultúr í an Ghaeilge agus is cúis bhróid í do go leor daoine in Iarthar Phort Láirge. Taispeánann na torthaí daonáirimh is deireanaí gurb í An Rinn agus an Sean Phobal an t-aon réigiún Gaeltachta atá ag fás i líon na gcainteoirí, agus ainmníodh Dún Garbhán mar Bhaile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta le pobal rathúil Gaeilge.

“Mar iarrthóir toghcháin áitiúil, táim meáite ar mo dhícheall a dhéanamh don Ghaeltacht, do chainteoirí Gaeilge ar fud Phort Láirge, agus do chur chun cinn ár dteanga agus ár gcultúir náisiúnta. Mar bhall boird d’Fhoras na Gaeilge agus d’ionadaí áitiúil leanfaidh mé orm ag déanamh gach rud is féidir liom chun a chinntiú go dtugtar na hacmhainní agus na tacaíochtaí do thionscnaimh phobail atá ag teastáil chun an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn.
West Waterford to host historic Foras na Gaeilge meeting – McGuinness

Sinn Féin local election candidate Conor D. McGuinness has announced that An Rinn will host a meeting of the board of Foras na Gaeilge this April in a historic first for the organisation. Foras na Gaeilge is the body responsible for the promotion of the Irish language throughout the whole island of Ireland.

McGuinness said:

“I am delighted to announce that Foras na Gaeilge will hold a board meeting in the West Waterford Gaeltacht this April. As an all-Ireland body set up under the Good Friday Agreement, Foras na Gaeilge usually meets in either Dublin or Belfast, however in a first for the organisation, it will hold a full board meeting in An Rinn on Friday 26th April.

“The Irish language is a fundamental and important part of our culture and is a source of pride for many people in West Waterford. The most recent census results show that An Rinn and an Sean Phobal is the only Gaeltacht region to record a growth in the number of speakers, and Dungarvan has been named as a Gaeltacht Service Town with a thriving Irish language community of its own.

“As a local election candidate I am determined to do my best for the Gaeltacht, for Irish speakers across Waterford, and for the promotion of our national language and culture. As a board member of Foras na Gaeilge and a local representative I will continue to do all I can to ensure that initiatives to promote Irish  are given the resources and supports necessary to undertake their important work.”
