McGuinness: It’s time for a public swimming pool in Dungarvan

IMG_3429There is a growing demand for a public swimming pool in Dungarvan to serve residents of the town and West Waterford more generally.

I believe Dungarvan not only deserves, but also needs, its own 25m public swimming pool.

A public swimming pool would provide an essential piece of sports infrastructure and a fantastic public amenity for recreation and tourism.

Such a community resource would also be vital for lifeguard and water safety training. Water Safety Ireland (WSI) trains and accredits the built of Ireland’s beach lifeguards, including those employed by Waterford City and County Council.

A public swimming pool would allow the training and accreditation of a sustainable supply of beach lifeguards to serve the beautiful beaches along the Co. Waterford coastline.
