#MakeWayDay campaign gets Council backing – McGuinness

DD2A5DA4-4801-4CED-8C96-D8E5E09879FEWaterford City and County Council has given its backing to the annual Make Way Day campaign that was initiated by the Disability Federation of Ireland in recent years. The support came on foot of a motion brought to Council by Sinn Féin councillor Conor D. McGuinness.

McGuinness said:

Make Way Day is a campaign that brings the disability and wider community together to consider the needs of people with disabilities in the public spaces we all share. It highlights the need for people to show care and consideration when using public spaces, and to not obstruct access for people with disabilities or with reduced mobility.

The campaign is led by the Disability Federation of Ireland and is a unique collaboration across Ireland between the voluntary and local government sectors. My hope is that Government will finally come on board and support a truly national Make Way Day campaign.”

Make Way Day takes place on Thursday 26th September. For more information visit www.makewayday.com.
