Sinn Féin councillor Conor D. McGuinness has requested the Coucil submit a Specific Improvement Grant application to acquire funds to construct a footpath running from the church in Ballinroad to the Clonea roundabout.
McGuinness said:
“There is a clear need for a footpath along this busy stretch of road. This has been the case for several years, but has become more pressing with the development of the new estate in Ballinroad.
“Council officials have said that the money isn’t there to build the footpath due to budget constraints, however there is scope to apply to the Government for a Specific Improvement Grant to secure the necessary funding. I have asked that work on such an application begin as a matter of urgency.”
